FILL THIS SPACE: Student Exhibition

My first painting show is creeping closer and closer! If y'all are in LA and you have a few minutes to spare on Thursday, October 18th from 5 - 7 PM, please drop by! I would be honored if you came. The "official" invite (meaning, on Facebook) is copied and pasted below the next WIP image.

Hello all,

My first painting show in less than a week! I've poured myself into a series of large-scale pieces, and I would be honored if you celebrated their completion with me at USC.

As deducible from the show's name, in this work, I play with space: semi-realistic figures float in backgrounds that are flat and barely rendered in order to evoke a sense of dimension within a void.

My work in this series is rooted in my cross-disciplinary learning; though my background is primarily in traditional painting and drawing, I've also explored animation, illustration, and graphic design. In the resulting work, I exaggerate anatomy, suspend gravity, and use a whole lot of blue.

There will be food!

The show is in USC's Lindhurst Gallery in Watt Hall at the Roski School of Fine Arts (850 West 37th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90089).
You can park in either Parking Structure A, or at meters on Vermont or Figueroa. Type "PSA", "Watt Hall", or "Lindhurst Gallery" into to see where everything is.

If you cannot make the reception, the gallery's hours are Monday - Thursday, 9 am–7 pm; Friday, 9 am–4:30 pm

Some snippets will be posted on my blog at Older paintings are viewable on my website at The event is also on Facebook:

I hope to see you there. Cheerio!
